Defining "Experiment"

(the new emerging Sydney Cyclist!)

The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines "experiment":

- a test or trial; a procedure adopted on chance of its succeeding, for testing hypothesis etc; or to demonstrate known fact

- to make experiment (on, with) hence experimentation

The American Heritage Medical Dictionary defines "experiment":

- a test under controlled conditions that is made to demonstrate a known truth to examine the validity of a hypothesis, or to determine the efficacy of something previously untried
- a process of conducting such a test, experimentation
- an innovative act or procedure
- a result of experimentation

- to conduct an experiment
- to try something new, especially to gain experience

Mosby's Dental Dictionary (2nd edition) defines "experiment":

- a trial or special observation made to confirm or disprove something doubtful
- an act or operation undertaken to discover some unknown principle or effect or to test, establish, or illustrate some suggested or known truth

Saunders Comprehensive Veterinary Dictionary (3rd edition) defines "experiment":

- a study involving a comparison group in which the investigator intentionally alters one or more risk factors in order to discover or demonstrate some fact or general truth

...including the "Field Experiment":
- one carried out in normal circumstances and environment

Under PART III, article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, I still refuse to give my informed consent to be part of this 'medical-device-anatomy-modifier' experiment - therefore yet again I request the State government of New South Wales to please respect my right to my own-personhood, which includes my own responsibilities towards my personal autonomy...

...please, do not coerce me to wear a helmet
