I have seen similar reports coming from the USA but it surprises me that this is happening in Australia. These people need to realise that basic training and a blue uniform does not give them the right to impose all of their personal values on the rest of society. Even if police did a degree in child development as part of their training I would still be annoyed that they are questioning by judgement as a parent. They would all gain a better understanding of what is important for a child if they were required to read Tim Gill's book "No Fear: Growing Up in a Risk Averse Society".
