OH MY ... 1970 Oz Pushbike Song & nobody wearing helmets

(Image: The Mixtures, YouTube)

Unthinkable!!!

... back in the day when when we didn't have helmet law.

Melbourne
The Mixtures
Sit-up bikes
Long hair ...

...and 'South Avenue' wherever that is in that southern bayside city.

That was Australia ... sigh

If you could do anything what would you do?

(Image: Scott Stoll, 2010, YouTube "Falling Uphill")

Right just now I feel a little like the proverbial filling in the sandwich of life ...

... the joys of being 'une dame d'un certain âge' I suppose.

So things have been a little quiet on the blogging front ... and when I think about it, on the 'Adelaide' mail front too re bicycle-helmet-matters!

Hmmm, so far with Adelaide issue:

* no court attendance notices, or,
* any other South Australian correspondence

... have appeared in my mailbox meaning I'm still waiting to hear whether Adelaide is going to prosecute me for that wicked Australian crime of riding a bicycle without a helmet!

Anyhoo, notwithstanding any of above, I came across this inspiring YouTube bicycle film today, made by Scott Stoll a few years back, so very beautifully done in a quick visual montage synopsis ...

Bonne observation!

Wending your way in Wanaka

(Wanaka, New Zealand, August 2014)

Our kiwi cousins across the Tasman also have the Cul-de-sac of transport strategy (bicycle helmet law) ...

... and whilst some safety-nanny-dedicated types enjoy wallowing in the goodness of mandatory requirements, many New Zealanders, just like many Australians, get it that bicycle helmet regulations are nothing more than a tacky imitation of good safety practice ...

... and so just like many of us, many kiwis eschew helmets for 'nothing' (or sometimes 'something-a-little-more-comfortable' like the beanie here).

Seriously to all you antipodean pollies, both sides of the Tasman:

"Con te partirò ... time to say goodbye ...

... to helmet law once and for all."
